In this body of work I used wet-on-wet watercolour techniques and silk painting and exhibited the series in 2001 at Artistcare Gallery, South Melbourne. In the paintings, I reference human challenges present in archetypal myths of the biblical flood and creation stories, told through the context of landscape.

The imagery constantly returns to minimal symbolic representations of earth and water. For me, water is a powerful, soulful symbol for replenishing and restoring, or adversely, the destructive effect on the earth and it’s in habitants. I applied delicate washes to create atmospheric effects, inviting the viewer inside images of light and space.

Other works in this series include silk paintings with childlike figures in the landscape. These works reference a deep longing to return to my childhood connection to nature, imagination, wonder and innocence.
