Mindful Photography - the Rule of Thirds
You will need a camera, iPhone, iPad, or laptop camera for this task.
We are looking at COMPOSITION in photography in this lesson. Please read below.
COMPOSITION - means the way that all of the parts of the picture are arranged, framed or captured.
NOTE THAT THE FOCAL POINT, THAT IS, THE MAIN SUBJECT IS PLACED ON ONE OF THE INTERSECTING POINTS IN THE FRAME.
The idea behind the Rule of Thirds is to stop the photographer putting the subject in the centre of the frame. By doing this it allows the viewer more opportunity to explore the image as a whole rather than be fixed on the central point. For this rule to apply, you simply need to imagine that your frame is divided into nine equal sections with lines crossing the horizontal and vertical areas of the image.
TIPS AND TRICKS
Make sure you take pictures in a good light. Look for interesting shadows, shapes and patterns.
Hold the camera very still.
Do not place the camera to close of the subject will be blurry
The sun should be behind you if you are outside
Take pictures of animals, nature, toys, landscapes, people.
Practise using the rule of thirds to get your focal point!!!
